Embracing the Journey | Letting Go, Moving On, Self Improvement, Discipleship, Calling

Are you seeking encouragement for your journey? Do you long to stop going in circles and to finally hear God’s voice and be consistent with his plan? Are you tired of stopping and starting again? Do you long to journey with others who just get it? No worries, sis. I’ve got you. Welcome to Embracing the Journey with Shell Odum where you will learn personal, profressional & spiritual growth tools through Biblical teachings, so you can transform your thinking and move forward - partnered with God every step of the way. Hi, I’m Shell - disciple of Christ, wife, Christian life coach and organizational consultant. Through the years I’ve tried really hard to find a linear path to follow that leads to fulfillment. What I’ve learned is that the journey is often taken on a windy road and that’s okay. As I learn to accept God’s invitation into intimacy he leads me into the life that I’ve always wanted! After experiencing divorce I finally stopped trying to finish a checklist and started seeking God for each next step according to his will. I went on a path of self-discovery, personal growth, with a ton of prayer and God’s grace along the way. I discovered how to partner with God to completely transform my life and relationships from the inside out, and I can’t wait to share what I’ve learned with you! If you’re ready to stop the self-sabotage keeping you stuck, learn proven strategies for personal growth, and discover an intimate and sustaining relationship with God that will help you move forward emotionally, professionally, and spiritually - this podcast is for you. Grab your journal. It’s time to get to work sis.

In this episode we're diving into chapter 2 of Lysa Terkeurst's book, Forgiving What You Can't Forget. In this chapter, Lysa discusses valid feelings we all have towards forgiveness as well as unhealthy ways that we cope with forgiveness including hyperspiritualizing things. This is a good one y'all!

What's up radical community! In this bonus episode I am chatting with small group leader Jazlyn Dixon about her testimony and the group she'll be leading. Jazlyn mentions a former life of homosexuality, walking in disobedience to God and then being encountered by God one night and choosing to pursue Christ relentlessly. This episode is a treat!

Do you know what a double edged sword is? It's a sword that has two sharp edges - literally. Figuratively when you someone refers to something being a double edged sword it refers to something that has both good and bad consequences and how you can't get one without the other. When you're using a double-edged sword, you have to be careful that you don't cut yourself when you're trying to swing it at an opponent. In her book forgiving what you can't forget Lysa Terkeurst refers to forgiveness being a double edged sword. Interesting thought, right? I agree and today we're going to explore this concept presented in the bible and then briefly explore what Lysa means when she refers to forgiveness as a double edged sword. Let's get into it!

If you've ever been betrayed by someone then you can relate to Lysa Terkeurst. The super straight forward version of her testimony is that she's a well known ministry leader in some circles whose husband cheated on her. She had to sort of walk out that season of her life as a ministry leader and navigate that as someone who is well known with eyes on her. So in this episode I want to share a little bit more about who she is, why we're diving into her book and set the tone for what to expect from Radical this year as well as a contest that we're currently running. Let's get into it!

33. Forgive Your Father

Tuesday Dec 26, 2023

Tuesday Dec 26, 2023

Today I actually had a different  episode  planned and then I woke up this morning and I just felt pulled in a different direction. The Holy Spirit placed something else on my heart, very heavy. He said I want you to tell them to forgive their parents. So in today's episode we're spending time identifying the offenses of our Fathers, praying for our hearts and then I'll let you all know about some resources that can help. Let's get into it.
